{"id":117,"date":"2008-08-22T15:21:49","date_gmt":"2008-08-22T15:21:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/refraction.co.uk\/blog\/2008\/08\/22\/online-tip-jars\/"},"modified":"2008-08-22T15:21:49","modified_gmt":"2008-08-22T15:21:49","slug":"online-tip-jars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/refraction.co.uk\/blog\/2008\/08\/22\/online-tip-jars\/","title":{"rendered":"Online tip jars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sethgodin.typepad.com\" target=\"_blank\">Seth Godin<\/a> made a <a href=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~r\/typepad\/sethsmainblog\/~3\/371788061\/ads-are-the-new.html\" target=\"_blank\">good point<\/a> on his blog today about online ads being the new tip jar.<\/p>\n<p>What he&#8217;s saying is that if you&#8217;re reading some content you like, why not click an ad on the site to say thanks (clicking on the ad will result in the site getting a little bit of cash). <\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s something I&#8217;ve tried to do for ages, not usually on the larger commercial sites, but on peoples blogs or on smaller sites where the author is more likely to benefit.&nbsp; The way I see it, if some content entertains or helps me then I&#8217;d like like the author to get something for their troubles, it just seems like a decent thing to do.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"http:\/\/sethgodin.typepad.com\/seths_blog\/2008\/08\/ads-are-the-new.html\" href=\"http:\/\/sethgodin.typepad.com\/seths_blog\/2008\/08\/ads-are-the-new.html\">http:\/\/sethgodin.typepad.com\/seths_blog\/2008\/08\/ads-are-the-new.html<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Seth Godin made a good point on his blog today about online ads being the new tip jar.
