Stumbled upon this article, thought it represents great articulation of what DirectAccess can do. Equally good is that there now exists a third party product called Centrify DirectSecure that enables DirectAccess to securely communicate with UNIX and Linux systems via end-to-end (versus just end-to-edge) IPsec authentication and encryption of network traffic, so now DirectAccess can go x-platform. http://www.centrify.com/directsecure/window-7-directaccess-integration-for-unix-linux.asp

I'm curious, is it more efficient to say:

SELECT Version, ProductType from Win32_OperatingSystem Where Version like “6.1%” and ProductType = “1”

instead of

SELECT * from Win32_OperatingSystem Where Version like “6.1%” and ProductType = “1”

Or, are they both pretty much the same in terms of delay?

Thanks.

It sounds like you're refering to 'split tunneling' in the VPN adapter? In that instance, once the VPN connection is up all traffic is routed through that adapter not through the connection the physical NIC is on. This shouldn't really prevent internet access however, the wider internet should still be accessable though your corporate network. If not it's probably worth looking into your forewall or routing setting to see what's preventing it.

With regards to direct access though, you shouldn't suffer the same problem, the computer will be able access both the internest and internal network. In that sense it's not a traditional VPN connection.

Hope that helps.

Lots of of bloggers not too happy with the new iPad.There was 2 much hype about it and lots of blogers got turned off.You see, I actually see great deal of the cool potential uses of this gadget. Third-party apps for making music, games, papers and magazine and books, all kinds of cool stuff, but IMHO they failed to sell it very well (aside from the books). It feels kinda incomplete

Hi. I have a question. In a typical scenario where companies use VPN client to connect to the corporate network, as soon as the user log’s in to the office network using VPN client, the network traffic is routed through the companies VPN server in which case the external websites might be blocked. So if user wants to access external websites, he will have to simply disconnect from the VPN client. And as far as the working of direct access is concerned, it says that if the direct access feature is enabled, it will eliminate the use of 3rd party VPN client software & when the computer is connected to the internet it is as good as being connected to the corporate network. So, in such a scenario will the use be able to access the external websites?

Did you see Panasonics 3D camera from CES? Bit chunky and I've no idea how good the eye alignment software is so not convinced it will be headache free, but its a start!

The clever thing about Avatar is blending real footage stereoscopic action with Stereoscopic data from the 3D models. Generating the model data is pretty easy so I'm guessing that the live data was used to generate the camera position info for the model. Getting this 100% right will be crucial to avoid mass headaches!

I wonder how long it is before the live action cameras are actually recording in voxels?
