It hardly ever syncs my email/calendar/contacts unless I actually click the manual refresh button. I thought it might have been because of my Exchange server being monolithic with the IIS etc hacks to allow it to be both a FE and BE server, but if you're also experiencing them on a traditional Front/Back end deployment as well that might be a pointer. I must say, it's totally random though. Sometimes I can be sat there and it'll chime with a new email just before my laptop does. Others I can be hours out of date with about 15 emails waiting.
